Tasting Notes

Unlike many black teas, which have a pronounced astringent drying finish, this black tea is the opposite with little to no astringency.  This tea is very mild and smooth with a moderate amount of natural honey-like sweetness, a mild chocolate malt flavor, and velvety smooth mouthfeel.  It is without a doubt the most enjoyable black tea we have every had.

About this Tea

This loose leaf black tea comes from the Fujian province of China.

This black tea is roughly half buds (the top golden bud of each tea plant) and half leaves. Buds are much more expensive than leaves and tend to yield flavors that are more delicate, flavorful, and naturally sweet.  The leaves are pan fired and folded by hand.

Steep Directions

Traditional recommendations for this tea are to steep 2 tsp (3 g) of tea per 8 oz (226 g) of 205F water for 3 minutes but we also enjoy this tea at a more concentrated ratio of 2 tsp (3 g) of tea per 4 oz (113 g) of water.

Each bag contains two ounces of tea or 18 tsp.

Unlike coffee, specialty teas can be brewed/steeped 2-3 times, which really makes specialty tea more economical than at first glance.

Ingredients: Black tea from the Fujian province of China.  Contains caffeine.
