Tasting Notes

If you are like us and have an affinity for teas that are floral, you will really enjoy this green tea from China.  We find this to be extremely floral in aromatics, sweet and mild in flavor, delicate in mouthfeel, and to have no astringency.  It is without a doubt the most enjoyable green tea we have every had.

About this Tea

This loose leaf green tea comes from the Fujian province of China and is the byproduct of a lot of thoughtful and tedious hard work.

The youngest, most tender tea leaves are carefully plucked and processed as green tea.  Jasmine blossoms are harvested during the day while still closed and are layered with the tea leaves.  The jasmine blossoms open during the night and infuse the tea leaves with their aroma.  In the morning, the jasmine blossoms are discarded, new blossoms are harvested, and the process is repeated for a total of six consecutive nights.  In the final step of the process, the scented tea leaves are hand-rolled into delicate balls—known as “pearls”—to preserve the rich jasmine fragrance.  When you put the tea into hot water, the leaves unfold in the water letting out incredible floral aroma.

Steep Directions

We recommend steeping 20 pearls (2.6 g) of tea per 8 oz (226 g) of 175F water for 1 to 3 minutes.  We prefer a 1 minute steep time.  Note the lower water temperature.  Using too hot of water for this green tea can bring out bitterness.

Each bag contains two ounces of tea or around 18 tsp.

Unlike coffee, specialty teas can be brewed/steeped 2-3 times, which really makes specialty tea more economical than at first glance.

Ingredients: Green tea from the Fujian province of China.  Contains caffeine.
